2015 ULI Awards for Excellence

The Urban Land Institute (ULI Philadelphia) recently announced the seven winners of the 2015 Willard G. “Bill” Rouse III Awards for Excellence and Metropolitan Acoustics was on the two winning teams.

The competition started with 30 submissions; narrowed to 15 finalists, then 7 were selected as winners.  They represent a mix of project types – urban mixed-use, historic preservation, etc., and were scored based on use of best practices: Quality planning, environmental sustainability and economic success.

Here are two of the winning teams that we were proud to be part of:

  • FringeArts – Here’s another award for this semi-abandoned historic pumping station at the foot of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.  Now it’s a vibrant multi-use entertainment venue and cultural destination with a restaurant, performance space and outdoor plaza.  Metropolitan Acoustics provided interior room acoustic analysis for the Performance Theater as well as acoustical isolation design between the theater and restaurant, and between the exterior to the interior of the Theater.  FringeArts was also the recipient of a 2015 Preservation Alliance award.
  • The View at MontgomeryLocated adjacent to Temple University, this property was the site of the former Wanamaker Public School.  Now it’s a 14-story student housing building with street level retail and restaurants.  Metropolitan Acoustics provided isolation recommendations between the ground level restaurants to the first floor apartments above, between the apartments themselves, and isolation from the mechanical equipment into the apartments.

The Urban Land Institute is a nonprofit education and research institution whose mission is to provide responsible leadership in the use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
