Seth Harrison

Senior Consultant

As a Senior Consultant and Manager of the Acoustics Group at Metropolitan Acoustics in Philadelphia, Seth Harrison has been working in various fields of acoustics since 2000.  Seth began his career while a mechanical engineering student at Pennsylvania State University working in the vibrations and aeroacoustics groups at GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio as part of a co-operative education program.  Subsequently, he studied and performed experimental research on innovative techniques for turbofan jet noise reduction at the University of Cincinnati while earning his Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics with a custom curriculum focused on acoustics and vibration.

With this solid foundation in acoustical theory and hands-on R&D experience, Seth left academia to pursue his true passion of architectural acoustics consulting.  He worked as an acoustics engineer for KJWW Engineering Consultants, an architectural engineering consulting firm servicing the Greater Chicago Area and other Mid-West markets until he joined Metropolitan Acoustics in 2012.

He has given numerous technical presentations at American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and Acoustical Society of America (ASA) conferences as well as seminars on a broad range of topics such as the acoustics of operating rooms, the acoustical design criteria in LEED, rooftop unit noise and vibration control, and jet noise reduction techniques.  Seth’s background includes live musical and theatrical performance equipping him with valuable knowledge of performance space acoustical design considerations.  He is an active member of ASA and a licensed professional engineer.
