Marriott Hotel: Newark Liberty International Airport – Newark, NJ

ewrap_phototour22The Marriott Hotel located at the airport in Newark, New Jersey, was expanding and renovating their conference facilities to accommodate current hospitality trends and use patterns at this highly-trafficked location.  The renovations were concentrated on the first floor and totaled over 24,000sf for a new ballroom and over 40,000sf of major renovation to existing spaces.  These included the lobby, restaurant, gift shop, business offices, meeting/conference support spaces such as break-out and meeting rooms, and the existing ballroom.

Metropolitan Acoustics provided acoustical consultation for the new ballroom, and evaluated the acoustical isolation features provided by the operable partitions in the room.  Additionally, we designed interior finishes for the renovated lobby, lounge and restaurant areas to ensure the reverberation time criteria was met.  The existing mechanical systems were also evaluated and recommendations were designed to alleviate excess noise issues in the new and renovated spaces to meet Marriott’s Construction and Design Standards.

For the Audio/Video, Metropolitan Acoustics designed an 8-way divisible system for both the new and existing ballrooms.  The system included a projection of computer and video sources, audio playback, speech reinforcement, system combining capabilities and a basic control system.  An A/V system was also designed for the renovated open lobby and lounge spaces, restaurant and meeting rooms.   The meeting rooms were subdividable into three separate AV equipped meeting rooms.
