The Logan Philadelphia

Project Type: Hospitality

The Logan Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA
Architect: BLT Architects

Formerly the Four Seasons Hotel, this building underwent a sophisticated renovation with an upscale look and new name. Located on Logan Square near major tourist attractions, this hotel offers rest, relaxation, and special event venues. There are 391 guest rooms, a 4,300 square foot grand ballroom, and over 12,500 square feet of indoor event and meeting space. The renovations included an overall interior design update, a redesign of the floor plan, a focus on privacy and acoustics, and upgrades to the audio and visual systems throughout the building.

Metropolitan Acoustics provided the acoustical and audio visual consultation for all building amenity spaces including the lobby, restaurant, ballrooms, spa/fitness areas, meeting/board rooms and roof-top bar. This project involved several of our core areas of expertise– acoustics, sound isolation, and a/v systems design which all had to work together seamlessly throughout design and construction. We partnered with BLT Architects during the design documentation phase to provide recommendations for achieving desired levels of sound isolation between rooms and between floors of the building. We were also able to analyze the interior acoustics of many of the rooms in order to provide solutions for minimizing undesirable echoes and achieving the appropriate reverberation times for each space. Throughout construction, we conducted site visits and tested the sound transmission across wall assemblies in various locations and provided reports with any issues that were not meeting our requirements.

Our recommendations and solutions for sound mitigation, sound isolation of mechanical equipment, room acoustics, and a/v design were detailed and comprehensive in this project. This was a large-scale renovation and the mission throughout was to ultimately provide a great experience for the guests and patrons throughout the duration of their whole stay. The guest rooms, restaurant and bar, ballroom, and event areas all required specific acoustic solutions which we were able to deliver as promised and the hotel has been receiving excellent reviews since it opened.
