William Tennent High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania, wished to revamp the A/V system in their existing 2,000 seat auditorium as part of their building-wide remodeling project. As it existed, the audio system in the auditorium did not sufficiently cover the wide audience area and the two side projection screens were not large enough to be clearly viewed from every seat.

To aid in our design work of the new A/V system, we utilized software called Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers (EASE). Using EASE, we developed a 3D model of the auditorium into which we inserted speakers to determine the best equipment to use and their optimum positioning to achieve even coverage across the entire audience area.

We designed a versatile sound system which achieves high intelligibility for presentations and rich, encompassing sound for live concerts and theatrical productions by incorporating EAW’s newest speakers, the QX-564′s. We also integrated an HD projector and a screen so large that there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Additionally, we incorporated a digital split from the auditorium’s audio system connected to a second mixing console in the school’s new Digital Music classroom. This allows students to learn to mix live performances in real time without interrupting the actual production taking place on stage as well as record their work for future practice and analysis.
