3rd Annual ULI Awards 2016 – Metropolitan Acoustics on 3 Winning Projects
The Urban Land Institute (ULI Philadelphia) recently announced the winners for the 2016 Willard G. “Bill” Rouse III Awards for Excellence. The awards recognize the best real estate projects completed within the last five years in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
Of the fifteen finalists, Metropolitan Acoustics was on five of the nominated projects and won three awards. The winners were:
- 3737 Chestnut – Metropolitan Acoustics was the acoustical consultant for the 287,000 sq ft residential tower and oversaw design of the mechanical system noise and vibration isolation treatments as well as sound isolation throughout the building.
- Community Legal Services, North Philadelphia Law Center – Located near the intersection of Broad and Erie Streets. Metropolitan Acoustics was the acoustical consultant for this project to ensure privacy between enclosed spaces and provided recommendations for the interior room finishes and mechanical noise and vibration control throughout the building.
- Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center – Venice Island, a small stretch of land between the Schuylkill River and Manayunk Canal, had been a recreation center for decades. Metropolitan Acoustics provided the acoustical and audio visual consultation on the new performing arts theater.
Also nominated were:
- Oxford Mills, Philadelphia, PA
- The ARCH Building, University of Pennsylvania
ULI Philadelphia is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities. The winning projects – which represent a variety of types, including urban mixed-use, historic preservation, adaptive reuse, multipurpose entertainment, and institutional projects – were scored by 15 jury members from around the nation on use of best practices; quality planning and design; elements that build healthy places; environmental sustainability and energy reduction; economic success and market acceptance.
