The 2016 Design Awards Gala was held in late October 2016 at the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater in Philadelphia. The who’s who in the world of Philadelphia Architecture were there for an evening of socializing and award announcements. Congratulations to all winners!
Metropolitan Acoustics was on the following winning teams:
Congregation Rodeph Shalom
Gold Medal Winner – Built Category
Philadelphia, PA
This historic synagogue dates to 1927 and is a stately fixture on North Broad Street. We were involved in the development of an addition to the synagogue that houses educational spaces, offices and a large meeting room. We provided analysis and recommendations for the interior room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical system noise and vibration control for the addition.
Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI)
Merit Award – Built Category
Philadelphia, PA
CBEI, occupies Building 661 at The Navy Yard – a retrofit of a former 1940s Navy recreation center. The building was designed for science researchers to test and develop energy conservation measures, led by Penn State University. Metropolitan Acoustics designed the audio visual display system for the main lobby in Building 661 as well as presentation systems for the meeting room, work rooms, and multi-purpose room (symposium). We also analyzed exterior noise from the nearby Philadelphia International Airport, as well as the interior room acoustics, speech privacy and mechanical system noise control for these rooms.
