SteelStacks Comes out on Top

The Ruby Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (RBA) is an award given to a project that best represents innovation and inspiration in city redevelopment. The Bethlehem SteelStacks Arts and Culture Campus won the Gold Award, beating out 120 submissions from all over the country. We provided consultation services on Levitt Pavilion, an open-air amphitheater at the foot of the plant’s 20-story tall blast furnaces. The pavilion design salutes the industrial past of the city with the towering but silent blast furnaces as a dramatic backdrop in this cultural hub in Bethlehem and focal point in the SteelStacks Arts and Cultural Campus. Metropolitan Acoustics designed acoustical recommendations for the shape and finishes of the pavilion to ensure maximum projection of sound to the audience for both for amplified and non-amplified performances.  We also provided designs for the lighting and rigging systems as well as the performance audio and video systems.
