Rising up at 17th and Chancellor in center city Philadelphia is the new Hyatt Centric hotel. The 13-story upscale hotel has its focus towards millennial-minded travelers and will include such amenities as high-end restaurants, a fitness center, underground parking, a banquet hall, and an outdoor terrace for guests. On August 1st the final steel beam was raised and put into place. The new 190,000-square-foot hotel is set to feature 332 guest rooms and 22 executive suites when construction is complete in the summer of 2020.
Metropolitan Acoustics was chosen as the Acoustical Consultant for the new Hyatt. Our scope of work included designing the interior room acoustics and interior sound isolation between the floors, guest rooms, and amenity spaces. We also provided our recommendations for the exterior sound isolation for the building’s shell, so the appropriate sound levels were achieved inside the hotel. Additionally, we predicted and where necessary designed recommendations for the sound levels coming from exterior equipment on the building and also designed the mechanical noise and vibration control.
