Metropolitan Acoustics’ journey traces back to 1990 when Felicia, fresh from her stint at an acoustical consulting firm in Washington DC, relocated to Philadelphia. Upon joining a major architectural-engineering firm, she noticed the absence of local acoustical consulting services. Undeterred, she took the leap, founding Metropolitan Acoustics on her 27th birthday, just six months after settling in Philadelphia.

Felicia’s determination and strategic networking soon garnered the attention of clients. With word-of-mouth referrals and loyal patrons driving its expansion, Metropolitan Acoustics flourished. Despite facing the challenges of simultaneously managing a growing business and motherhood – interrupted by a memorable meeting cancellation due to early labor – Felicia steered the company towards success.

Under her guidance, Metropolitan Acoustics evolved into a prominent national player in the industry. From a lone entrepreneur, Felicia nurtured a team of 15 professionals, overseeing the company’s relocation thrice to accommodate its exponential growth. Diversification into new markets, such as vibration analysis and continuous laboratory monitoring, further solidified its standing.

The accolades followed suit, with Metropolitan Acoustics earning recognition at the prestigious Philadelphia 100 and Future50 SmartCEO awards, attesting to its status as one of the region’s fastest-growing enterprises from 2015 to 2017.

Throughout its three-decade odyssey, Metropolitan Acoustics has withstood economic downturns and global crises, consistently thriving amid prosperity and adversity alike. From its modest origins in Northern Liberties and Chestnut Hill to its current perch on the 19th floor of 8 Penn Center, the company remains an integral part of the American acoustical landscape.
