Project Type: Hospitality
Four Seasons Hotel at the Comcast Innovation and Technology Center
Architect: Kendall/Heaton Associates
The Four Seasons Hotel will be located on the upper floors of the new Comcast Innovation and Technology Center in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. There will be event spaces, meeting rooms, a banquet hall, and other hotel amenities on the lower floors, while the guest rooms and another full slate of amenity spaces will occupy the top floors of the building. With this unique configuration, issues of privacy, controlling noise, and isolating mechanical noise and vibration are a chief concern. There will be a pool and fitness center as part of the full complement of amenities on the upper floors of the building, as well as another restaurant and bar, a salon, and a full-service spa. All of these spaces will house functions that generate noise and vibration which must be isolated from the guest rooms nearby.
Our involvement in this project will continue until the building is finished. We have conducted numerous site visits to monitor the construction and to make sure that all of the sound isolation methods required by the Four Seasons are being implemented during construction. During our inspections, we occasionally come across conditions which do not meet the necessary criteria for limiting sound transmission between rooms or isolating noise from the mechanical systems. We provide reports documenting our discoveries and follow up during subsequent site visits to make sure issues are being resolved which will make this building perform acoustically as promised. Another major portion of our involvement in this project is the A/V and technology integration. We are working on the voice, data, wireless infrastructure, and network integration systems throughout the building which will also continue until the end of construction.
