JPMC, a global financial services firm and leader, turned to Metropolitan Acoustics for acoustical and audio visual consulting services for their offices in Newark, Delaware. Many corporate offices are renovating their spaces from the closed-off, compartmentalized layouts to a more modern open floor plan and flexible design. This presents acoustical challenges as the open office and social hub areas require the ability to talk without the conversation being heard throughout the work space.

The work involved an office retro-fit of approximately 97,000sf with over 65,000sf designated as open floor space for JPMC. The two-story building floor plan called for a few private offices, plus quiet rooms, conference rooms, and larger training rooms.

Metropolitan Acoustics provided speech privacy analysis for both the open-plan offices and closed conference and private offices. In addition, we provided recommendations on the interior room acoustic finishes for the large meeting rooms to have the appropriate reverberation time. The location of the mechanical systems was evaluated to ensure that they were not overly loud and we provided recommendations to reduce the sound levels throughout the office.

Metropolitan Acoustics also designed a sound masking system for the open office areas. With open floor plans, a sound masking system is critical to reduce and cover up unwanted sound to make the work environment more comfortable and productive.

In addition to this location, Metropolitan Acoustics continues to provide AV design services and sound masking system designs for numerous other JPMC locations in Delaware and New York City.
