The Presbyterian Hospital of Philadelphia began in 1871 with 45 beds on 2 ½ acres. Over the years, the system has grown to a modern 16-acre campus and more than 300 beds.

In 1995, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center became a member of Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Additional facilities were desired to consolidate and expand the ambulatory operations and add more inpatient bed capacity. The new building would consist of treatment rooms, exam rooms, imaging rooms, offices, inpatient and outpatient operating rooms, inpatient beds, conference rooms and waiting areas.

This new 13-story tower added more than 150,000 square feet of space to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Campus in West Philadelphia. The building was designed to the 2010 FGI Guidelines for design and construction of Healthcare Facilities. In accordance with these requirements, Metropolitan Acoustics provided consultation on the interior room acoustics, background sound levels from mechanical systems, sound isolation for enclosed rooms, speech privacy in open areas and exterior noise evaluation from the helipad and In 2015, the building received a LEED Silver certification. .
