Project Type: Cinemas/4DX Vibration
Regal Gallery Place Stadium 14
This cinema complex is going to integrate 4DX technology into one of its theaters in an existing complex in Washington, DC. that also includes, residences, offices and a bowling alley. We were hired to analyze potential vibration transmissions between floors, and horizontally on the same level when the motion seating system is activated. We took measurements on site and discovered that the sound and vibration isolation is generally adequate for traditional film formats but was inadequate for 4DX. Our design recommendations include isolating the ceiling of the theater from the base building structure, removing existing platforms and the existing floating slab, and building directly on the base building.
