Rowan University – Pfleeger Concert Hall

Rowan University – Pfleeger Concert Hall

Pfleeger Concert Hall is an 800-seat concert hall in Wilson Hall at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.  It has been in continuous use since 1972.  Metropolitan Acoustics has performed various consultation services for this facility, and this time, we were brought onboard to assist in the selection, bidding, and installation of a new concert shell.

Our scope included both pre-installation and post-installation testing of the existing and new concert shell.  On the front end, Felicia and Scott met with university representatives to discuss the existing acoustics of the stage and projection of sound to the seating areas in the hall.  Back in the office, they reviewed the bids including layout and construction of the new concert shell.

Felicia and Scott returned to Pfleeger to observe the installation of the new concert shell and conduct acoustical testing, comparing results to the first set of measurements completed with the old concert shell in place.

Visually speaking, the new shell looks wonderful!  And, acoustically speaking, it sounds wonderful too! The reverberation time did not noticeably change with the new concert shell and there is an improvement in sound propagation to the audience.
